The college was established in June 2008 to provide education to the students of tribal and rural area of Amirgadh taluka. On the auspicious day of Gurupurnima of the same month the college started working in the building of Shri R.R. Vidhyalaya under the leadership of principal (I/C) Shri K.G. Patel. Gradually the number of students increased and the classes had to shift to the Government secondary school building in 2011. Meanwhile the college received land and fund for building from the state government, and in June 2013 the college shifted to its own highly facilitated building. The college began with sixty students but today more than four hundred students are taking advantage of higher education under the leadership of enthusiastic and energetic principal Dr. Nayan K.Sonara and his team who work hard to explore each and every possibility which benefit students.

It gives me immense pleasure to announce that now our college, Government Arts College, Amirgadh is an accredited institute. Following the completion of the first cycle of NAAC accreditation, we have secured Grade “B” with a CGPA of 2.41. The grade, no doubt explains about our standard on the national level and it is quite a satisfactory achievement for a new institute like ours. But the grade just does not tell everything about our college fraternity. The path here, is as important as the destination. Throughout the whole process of various stages of this cycle, our colleagues displayed a marvellous level of synergy. All of us, the teaching and non-teaching staffs worked as a closely-knit team and students also co-operated whole-heatedly whenever needed. I extend my thanks to everyone and hope that we shall work in the same co-operative way in coming days and bring more laurels.
To provide higher education to the rural, tribal and economically backward youth so that they can also be a part of the main stream of overall development. To foster an enduring sense of discipline and dedication to work to make them professionally competent at national as well as in changing global world.
To provide qualitative higher education to the students who hail mostly from the surrounding villages
To enhance the rural youth with discipline and inculcate higher level of social, cultural and spiritual values.
To impart skill-based education for overall development of the students.
